I am currently the Director of the joint program between FIU’s School of Communication + Journalism and world renowned Miami Ad School.
The Global Strategic Communications – Creative Track graduate program offers the option to further specialize in art direction, copywriting, strategy/strategic planning or social media strategy.
The program is designed for students who want to combine knowledge of the theoretical framework of communications with in-depth skill-building courses focusing on creativity in advertising and communications.
The Educational Purpose
The Global Strategic Communications – Creative Track program offers students the opportunity of earning a graduate degree that combines skill building courses focusing on the creative side of advertising and university graduate-level courses in marketing research, creative strategy development, media and metrics to measure advertising effectiveness, global strategic communications and branding.
Graduates from the program earn a Masters of Science degree from Florida International University and a diploma of completion with a portfolio from world renowned advertising creative school, Miami Ad School.
Admissions Requirements
Applicants must complete applications for each school (FIU and Miami Ad School) and provide all documents, completed forms and assignments included in each checklist.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 minimum (3-year degrees are not accepted).
International applicants must submit scores of “English as a Foreign Language” from TOEFL or IELTS. For Miami Ad School’s application, various creative assignments are also required.
Miami Ad School will test admitted students on proficiency with InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Adobe proficiency testing will happen after admission to the program.
Locations of both schools
Courses are taught at both locations, trendy Miami Ad School in Wynwood and FIU’s beautiful Biscayne Bay Campus in North Miami.
FIU’s BBC campus is about 15 miles from Miami Ad School Wynwood. FIU is located at 3000 N.E. 151st Street, North Miami 33181 and Miami Ad School at 571 NW 28th St, Miami, FL 33127.
Duration of program
FIU runs in semesters and Miami Ad School in quarters.
The program runs in five (5) lock-step or back-to-back academic semesters and the equivalent of six (6) quarters.
Each semester are twelve to sixteen (12-16) weeks and each quarter is ten (10) weeks in duration. Students attend both schools simultaneously.
Fall Semester application deadlines and sub-tracks:
International students must apply by February 15, Domestic Students by June 1

Spring Semester application deadlines and sub-tracks:
International Students August 1, Domestic Students October 1
